Yahoo Messenger (messenger.yahoo.com) THIS IS MY PREFERRED CHAT CLIENT -- My preferred identity on here is BEARLAW1968.  I have many others including HaydennetDotCom, UrsinetDotCom, Bearlawnyc, Jahlawnyc, NYCBearlaw, BearlawtekNYC and JHaydennet because of the way Trillian works.  Remember that I will not see you if you are in stealth mode.  None of these identities have email. MSN messenger (messenger.msn.com) -- I can be found under the auspices of bearlaw1968 @ hotmail.com (you don’t need an msn or hotmail account to obtain an MSN chat ID).  This and this is NOT a valid email address).  Other ID's include bearlawnyc @ hotmail.com, joseph at haydennet dot com, Ursinetdotcom @ hotmail.com or Joe @ ursinet.com. AOL/Instant Messenger (www.aol.com)-- My least preferred chat medium because of no cached messages.  I have many identities on AOL, but my preferred at this time is BEARLAW1968.  Please do NOT use for email, just use the email link here.  ICQ (www.icq.com) -- While this is now owned by AOL, it works better in terms of finding people.  I have had ICQ since way back when, so my identity on there the six-digit number 838047.

I use Trillian (that is NOT a dot com address, by the way) for Yahoo, MSN, ICQ & AOL/AIM.  This amazing program integrates all these, although I do not use IRC.  The fully-functional freeware version is available for download, although I happily paid for and use the professional version. 

"Chat Client" from Gayboi.org, which can be used for various sites like Gay.com.  Chat client has a much more discreet and practical interface than the one Gay.com uses.  Hopefully Gay.com will upgrade their chat client software, but I know Gayboi.org is working hard to stay on top of things, making life easier for the heavy chat user.  I subscribe to gay.com and have donated to gayboi.org for this item.

ISPQ -- Free trial download.  Between this one and ICUII I prefer this.  For those who like to cam, I can usually be found in the Bears/Cubs/Daddies room as bear@haydennet.com.

ICUII -- Free trial download.  I rarely attach to this anymore.  When I am, I am on here as Bearlawnyc in whatever Gay Men/Bear room is available at the time.

All of these recommended chat clients are free or have free trial versions.  I have plunked down money where I've indicated that I think it is worth it, and I am very picky about reviewing software.  These programmers who I have donated or paid are really genuine and have obviously labored with love to create interfaces to keep the world in contact.
